Server Change

Well after 1 year with the same server, now the site is going to be moved to a better one!.

This moving will be conducted in the next 3 days and we apologize if you can’t see updated stats. With this change we will try to get a higher performance in the bot and the speed of the page.

The new server:

- CPU i7 920 2.93ghz

- 1256mb RAM

- 40gb HD

Yes, it’s a very good server ^^

Don’t let ca-ranks die

Well I don’t really want this but I have to do…

After more than 1 year giving you updated stats better than nexon’s stats, the site is not in the best moment, the visitors have increased so much but the ads don’t give me what I need to pay the server. Lately the load of the server generating ranks and the bandwidth needed to do this and show the page is not enough and the company has said that the server has to be upgraded. The problem of this is the money, I can’t pay the server alone and that’s because I’m asking for your support donating to keep this up for a long time.

The losses are many: rankings page, banned and headshots list, report generator and CW helper from sledge and many future tools that have been left unfinished, or have yet to be started. As you can see, some tools very usefull can be lost if you don’t help us….

As I said at the start of the post, I don’t want to do this but I have too, without donations (or using more the ads) this page will be closed… I’m the first who wants this, this has been always my little (big) project, even I stopped studying to upgrade the bot, without this I think CA wouldn’t be the same.

Thank’s to all of those who are helping and helped me with this, I will never forget you.

IP block

No, this is not a new about nexon has blocked my ip, this is only a new to tell you that I have discovered an attack to the webpage and the ips that made the attack are now blocked, the IPs are these:

95.211.132.78
95.211.132.70
95.211.132.75
95.211.132.79

Since now all the IPs that try to attack the page or the server will be blocked, I’m also doing a deep scan in the logs to detect more attacks.

Big update

Today I have been released a new version of the page, it’s still limited and no new functionalities has been added yet, during the next days you will see more updates and functionalities. The new things are:

• New bot, faster and more accurate, it can detect errors and solve them.
• New header thanks to Rudchenko

The next days you will see:

• 2 new rankings (maybe more)
• Europe rankings
• API to web apps

Remember this is a limited and beta version to test how is working the new system now, if you detect a bug use contact form and I will try to resolve it.

And again, help all of us with this page, you only need a webserver to do this bigger.

Updated: Good news!

Well, after 13 days working how to solve this, I’m doing tests and the last test is working so good, slow but it’s working.

Now I have 2 problems:

• Memory load: the load of this new bot is not so optimized and the load at start is 100mb, too high for my server
• I need the help of all of you to do this better

This 2 problems have solutions, to the first issue I have to optimize it and upgrade the server to have more memory, and the second can be resolved only if you want to help me and all of that players that used to use the page to check their progress day to day.

Update:

The memory leaks has been solved and the tests are more than good, now I have another problem… sometimes a player is not well parsed so I have to add error control to solve this, maybe tomorrow a final version of the bot will be working and in a couple of days the rankings will be updated again

Updated: Server issues

We are up again!

On friday 04/9 there were some problems with the server where this page is located, the cpu load of the bot that makes the rankings was too high and the company closed the server to move to another node, they have been working all the weekend to give us their best service so I hope now we won’t have any issue again.

Now I have to recode the bot again in other language to try  to decrease that cpu load but it’s not so easy and the number of players ranked is rising too fast (the last update has 477k players ranked) so I don’t discard to ask for the help of all of you.

This night I will see how is working the bot in this new server, and then I will decide what should I do with this.

Update:

The server issues was caused by the bot of the rankings, today I have recoded it (what I made in 1 month I have made in 1 day) and i have been doing tests to get the best of it, I think the test are more than good and maybe tomorrow you will enjot a new update of the rankings.

Update 2:

As i said in the forum, the ip of the server has been blocked by nexon, so this site is not going to be updated anymore.

Stats about the new bans

Today a massive ban has been done and i’ve created a new stats page to know everything about these bans. You can see:

• Number of rangs banned with the percent of banned in each rang.
• Number of players banned of each country with his percent.
• Clans with banned members, the number of members banned with the percent and if the leader has been banned

You can check this in this page: http://www.combatarms-rank.com/banned.php (yes, i know the deisgn is very poor).

And keep checking the page, i will add new things along the day

UPDATE:

Now you can check the players banned in each rang, country and clan, just click over the link and a window will be displayed showing that info, in some categories with lots of players banned, there are pages to navigate through the bans.

Minor update and bug fix

Today, a new version of the page has been published with some changes:

• Animation system changed: The page was using script.aculo.us and now it has been changed to jQuery that it’s faster and it has more animations to add.
• Bug fixes: The bug in the dropdown menu has been fixed with the use of jQuery, also the autocompleter is better and not bugged, it also works in IE. The bug in the pages with IE was fixed some time ago (there is still a bug to fix when you search and you try to change the page).
• Flag tooltips changed to jQuery ones, here there is a bug with IE6.
• Added a news box to display some interesting news of the page.
• Contact form changed to another form integrated in wordpress.

And nothing more, i’m working in a big update but i don’t know where i will be able to release.
